A Finnish sauna in Bali, made for the tropical climate

Wellnessway makes Finnish saunas in teak in Bali for private homes, villas, guesthouses and hotels. Its main product is a mobile sauna: it needs no foundation, it is assembled on site anywhere in Bali, and it can be taken apart and moved when the owner changes address. For hotels and scenic sites, Wellnessway also builds fixed saunas on site to a design.

Antonio Rutilio Design, the architecture studio of Antonio Rutilio in Bali, works with Wellnessway as a partner. This page summarises what Wellnessway offers. For the models, current prices and a quote, visit the Wellnessway website.

Why a mobile sauna makes sense in Bali

  • No foundation, no building works: a base of ulin, Indonesian ironwood, lifts the sauna above the ground. On a firm, level surface it needs no foundation, and on soil it stands on piles.
  • It moves with its owner: the sauna comes apart into up to 10 parts and is put back together in a new place from the same parts.
  • Wood for the tropics: teak handles heat and humidity, even when it gets wet and dries every day.
  • The villa keeps working: without building works, a rental villa can keep hosting guests while the sauna is assembled.

  • Mini: 1 to 2 people, 100 × 120 × 210 cm, 68,000,000 IDR. For couples, a private home or a small villa.
  • Medium: 4 people, 200 × 160 × 210 cm, 88,000,000 IDR. For families, a villa or a guesthouse.
  • Comfort: up to 6 people, 170 × 230 × 210 cm, 118,000,000 IDR. For a large villa, a guesthouse, a hotel or a retreat.

These are the prices published by Wellnessway in November 2026, in Indonesian rupiah. They include the sauna and an electric heater with stones. The ladle and the thermometer are not included, and delivery and assembly are paid separately. A Finnish Harvia heater is available for an extra charge. Check the Wellnessway website for current prices.

How the sauna is built

  • Walls: a single layer of teak boards joined with tongue-and-groove and tightened with metal fasteners. The wood stays natural inside, and outside it has a finish in the tone you choose.
  • Door: 10 mm tempered glass, opening outwards.
  • Heater: electric, with stones, a guard and protection against overheating, on its own line with a circuit breaker and a residual current device.
  • Inside: benches, LED lighting, a sand timer and a wooden floor.
  • Ventilation: a vent brings in fresh air during the session and removes moisture afterwards.

Fixed saunas for hotels, retreats and developers

For hotels, retreats and unusual sites, Wellnessway builds saunas on site, to size and to a design, with glass walls, two-tier benches or a sauna inside a wellness zone. For developers, it builds a fixed sauna or a wellness zone as part of the house design. Fixed saunas have the same one-year warranty on the structure.

Extras: plunge pool, shower, deck and more

The sauna can be planned together with a small relaxation area. Extras are paid separately and can be added later:

  • Piles screwed into the ground to raise the sauna on soft soil.
  • Plunge pool in terrazzo, for cold or warm water.
  • Shower on a wooden stand, with a water heater.
  • Deck in teak, ulin or stone.
  • Canopy for shade and shelter from the rain.
  • Changing room, lounge area with teak furniture, and a bath set with towels, slippers and sauna hats.

How ordering a sauna works

  1. First contact: Wellnessway asks about the site, the number of people and whether the sauna is for the owner or for guests.
  2. Survey: it measures the site and helps choose the model, the wood tone and the extras.
  3. Estimate and contract: it prepares both and shows a visualisation of the sauna on the site.
  4. Production: the deposit is paid in rupiah after the contract is signed, and the workshop makes the sauna.
  5. Delivery and assembly: the sauna arrives taken apart anywhere in Bali and is assembled on site. The rest is paid after assembly.
  6. Handover: Wellnessway shows how to use and look after the sauna and stays in touch for advice.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a sauna cost in Bali?

In November 2026 Wellnessway listed its mobile teak saunas at 68,000,000 IDR for the Mini, 88,000,000 IDR for the Medium and 118,000,000 IDR for the Comfort, including the sauna and an electric heater with stones. Delivery, assembly and extras are paid separately.

Does a sauna make sense in the tropical climate of Bali?

Wellnessway points out that a sauna warms you up after surfing and is pleasant on cool evenings in the mountains and during the damp rainy season. It uses teak because the wood handles heat and humidity.

Does a mobile sauna need a foundation?

No. It needs a firm, level surface such as tiles, concrete or decking. On soft ground it stands on piles screwed into the soil. The heater needs its own electrical line with a circuit breaker and a residual current device.

Where does Wellnessway deliver?

Anywhere in Bali, where the sauna is delivered taken apart and assembled on site. Delivery to other parts of Indonesia is available on request.

What warranty does the sauna have?

The structure has a one-year warranty, for both mobile and fixed saunas, or three months if the owner assembles the sauna. The heater is covered on its manufacturer's terms.

Did Antonio Rutilio design the Wellnessway saunas?

No. Wellnessway designs, makes and guarantees its own saunas. Antonio Rutilio Design is a partner architecture studio that designs villas and the outdoor areas around them.
